A start in the New Zealand Grand Prix is “on the radar”, according to Dixon.
In his two starts in the event across 1998 and 1999 at Ruapuna, Dixon finished runner-up to compatriot Simon Wills.
Speaking on Speed with Will Buxton and Kevin Harvick, Dixon flagged the possibility of racing on home soil as soon as next year.
“I never got to win the New Zealand Grand Prix… which was frustrating,” said Dixon when asked about his motorsport bucket list.
“That apparently is on the radar too for 2027, which could be kind of interesting.”
The New Zealand Grand Prix is one of two races outside of Formula 1 recognised by the FIA as a grand prix – the other being at Macau.
Take the short survey.
It’s these days the crown jewel event in the four-round Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Trophy.
That race could begin a trend of extracurricular activities for Dixon, who just signed with McLaren.
The move from Chip Ganassi Racing to McLaren could conceivably create opportunities for the Kiwi.
Dixon has flagged the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Daytona 500 among his chief “bucket list” items.
“Definitely Le Mans. It’s such an epic race to maybe have a really good shot at that,” said Dixon.
“The first year I went there in 2016 with Ford was obviously in GTLM.
“The sister car won, we finished on the podium, I think it would be great to race there again.
“Bathurst 12 Hour I really want to do again. I think maybe Nurburgring at some point would be a lot of fun.
“A lot of these things, especially when you’re immersed so deeply into what we do makes it quite difficult.
“I would say that’s it at the minute.
“The other one is maybe the Daytona 500. Jimmie (Johnson), we talk quite a bit about that, which would be a lot of fun.
“But you guys (NASCAR drivers) are so good at what you do.
“It’s so impressive to watch and I’ve obviously chatted with SVG occasionally.
“You can see he’s making some serious progress right now, which is pretty cool.”
Dixon will continue his IndyCar season at Nashville on Monday, July 20.
