Three-time FIA World Touring Car champion Andy Priaulx says that his opportunity with TeamVodafone at the Armor All Gold Coast 600 is his best shot in V8 Supercars.
Priaulx, from Guernsey, UK, is no stranger to V8 Supercars having competed in six V8 races in the past (2002/03 enduros with Kmart Racing and 2009 enduros with Walkinshaw Racing).
The 35 year old will compete in his seventh career V8 Supercars meeting at this year’s revamped Gold Coast 600, driving with TeamVoadone and against some of the world’s best racing drivers – all in V8 Supercars.
The Gold Coast race will be Priaulx’s first V8 race in a ‘non-Clayton’ Commodore, and says that this will be his best chance of a big result.
“Wow, this is going to be fun,” the factory BMW driver said.
“This is the best opportunity I have had yet in V8 Supercars and I can’t wait to drive the Surfers Paradise circuit.
“My schedule this year didn’t allow for me to compete at Phillip Island or Bathurst, so when this offer came up I jumped at the chance.
“This is going to be a very special event with the calibre of drivers on show and I feel fortunate to be included in such a stellar lineup of international drivers.”
Priaulx will team up with TeamVodafone for the race meeting, paired with either Jamie Whincup or Craig Lowndes. While it hasn’t officially been decided yet by the team, expect to see Priaulx pair with Lowndes in the twin-300km races around the Surfers Paradise street track.
