Dunlop Series driver George Miedecke will make a return to the V8 Ute Racing Series this weekend at the Armor All Gold Coast 600.
Miedecke will drive the Walkinshaw Racing-entered Williams Race Tech Holden that was previously campaigned by Tony Longhurst.
Longhurst stepped out of the Holden after the recent Bathurst event in order to concentrate on his recently purchased marine services business, The Boat Works.
“I think it's always good to go back to the Utes and the Gold Coast is a great round to do it,” said Miedecke, who competed full-time in the class from 2007 to 2009.
“It's a shame that Tony is stepping out of the car but it's a great opportunity for me.
“I've always gone well on the Gold Coast, although it will be tough with only one practice session, it will make it hard to adapt to a different race ute compared to a V8 Supercar in just 20 minutes.”
Miedecke's most recent V8 Ute drive came at Surfers Paradise last year, where he campaigned the category's wildcard entry.
This weekend marks the penultimate event of the season for the V8 Utes.
The Gold Coast could prove a decisive weekend in the battle with David Sieders having taken a narrow three point lead over Ryal Harris by winning the previous round at Bathurst.
The Carrera Cup Australia, Australian Formula Ford Championship and Aussie Racing Car Series will also be on track supporting the V8 Supercars this weekend.
The Porsche series enters its final round with Craig Baird all but having secured his fifth series title.
A healthy field of 17 cars have entered in Formula Ford, where Anton de Pasquale leads Macauley Jones by eight points with three events remaining.
Two rounds remain in the Aussie Racing Cars, where just 10 point separate the top four drivers; Maurice Masini, Nathan Townsend, Darren Chamberlin and Brendon Pingel.
