Officials have issued James Golding a three place grid penalty for an infringement during Armor All Qualifying for Race 2 in Adelaide.
Golding was adjudged to have impeded Walkinshaw Andretti United's James Courtney during the 20 minute session that sets the grid positions from 11th to 24th.
The Boost Mobile Racing driver ended the session 18th fastest while Courtney also missed out on a spot in the Armor All Top 10 Shootout in 15th.
As a result of the penalty, Golding will now start from 21st position for this afternoon's race.
Promoted as a result of his sanction are, in grid order, team-mate Richie Stanaway, Kelly Racing's Simona De Silvestro, and Brad Jones Racing rookie Macauley Jones.
Stewards also investigated Fabian Coulthard (Shell V-Power Racing) for the same infraction with Chaz Mostert (Tickford Racing) before declaring that no further action would be taken.
Coulthard's team-mate Scott McLaughlin topped the session and will head out last in the Armor All Top 10 Shootout scheduled for 1245 local time ahead of Race 2 of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship (78 laps) at 1520.
