Jacobson returns as Tickford announces new enduro line-up

Garry Jacobson and Tyler Everingham have been named as new additions to Tickford Racing’s Supercars co-driver roster.

They will join incumbent James Moffat and Zak Best in the Ford squad’s line-up for the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 and Repco Bathurst 1000.

All four will partake in tomorrow’s official pre-season test at Sydney Motorsport Park, with the #56 Tradie Ford Mustang to have otherwise been vacant given Declan Fraser has been ruled out due to tonsillitis.

Jacobson’s signing marks a return not only to Tickford, for whom he raced as a co-driver with Jason Bright in 2017, but also Supercars after he lost his drive at PremiAir Racing midway through the 2022 campaign.

Everingham meanwhile steps into the fold as co-driver for his third enduro campaign, the most recent of which was spent at Team 18.

A race winner in the Super2 Series, it was announced earlier this month that the Dubbo native will race in the National Trans Am Series in 2023.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Garry back to the family at Tickford,” said team boss Tim Edwards.

“We obviously worked together for a couple of years and had some great results, so it’s great to have him back in the team for this year’s enduros.

“For Garry to come in with so much recent experience at this level is a big plus, he’s shown before that he is a darn good driver and we think he’ll excel in the environment we have here.

“Of course we have some great memories together already: winning Super2 title a few years back, and he did a very good job as a rookie co-driver in 2017, so we’re very excited to welcome him back to Tickford and are looking forward to creating more memories at Sandown and Bathurst later this year.

“Continuing with Moff and Zak is obviously great news as well,” he added.

“Zak got unlucky at Bathurst last year but no one questions his ability, and Moff’s been fantastic, two Bathurst podiums and one or two ‘could have beens’ will tell you that.

“We’re really pleased with the addition of Tyler and when you look at the driver group in its entirety I think we’ve got a great mix of experience there.

“We’re very happy to have these four guys in our stable and we’re confident they’ll give us a great shot both at the Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000.”

Everingham’s best result in the Bathurst 1000 of 16th was achieved last year when racing alongside Scott Pye, having finished 19th with Jayden Ojeda in a Garry Rogers Motorsport-run wildcard in the 2020 edition of the Great Race.

Meanwhile, Jacobson’s Bathurst best was his maiden appearance when he and Bright combined to record an eighth-place finish in a Tickford FGX Falcon in 2017.
