New Zealanders Nick Cassidy and Daniel Gaunt will join Nobuya Yamanaka in one of Eurasia Motorsport’s LMP2 entries for the upcoming Asian Le Mans Series.
Cassidy has recently moved into the lead of Japan’s Super Formula series while he and Gaunt are both past winners of the Castrol Toyota Racing Series.
The pair will provide experience to the driving crew in the Ligier JS P217, alongside Bronze-ranked pilot Yamanaka.
The winner of the Asian Le Mans Series is guaranteed entry to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a target which Eurasia team principal Mark Goddard has identified.
“This is going to be an exciting Asian Le Mans Series for Eurasia and along with Nobuya we have made a big commitment to the series which is so important for us as a true Asian team,” said Goddard.
“Nobu has shown well in testing and has made great strides in his driving since he started his campaign to try to compete in the Le Mans 24 hours and has really shown his intent to succeed by adding Nick and Dan in the car.”
Eurasia is also expected to announce another LMP2 entry and one in the LMP3 class.
The season starts in Shanghai on November 22-24, while Round 2 will be held at The Bend on January 10-12.
