Esapekka Lappi and Jari-Matti Latvala gave Toyota Gazoo Racing a one-two on the opening night of Wales Rally GB.
Lappi clocked a 1:21.6s time on the 1.70km Tir Prince Super Special Stage while Latvala was 0.7s slower.
Championship leader Thierry Neuville ended up tied for second in his Hyundai.
His key rivals Sebastien Ogier (M-Sport Ford) and Ott Tanak (Toyota Gazoo), the latter of whom crashed his Yaris during shakedown, were fourth and fifth respectively.
Hayden Paddon was seventh, 1.9s off the pace in his Hyundai i20.
Friday action begins this afternoon (AEST).
