Supercars has expanded its technical department with the appointment of Campbell Little in the newly created role of Motorsport Technical Manager.
It will see the former Bathurst 1000 and championship winning race engineer report to Adrian Burgess, who was named as Head of Motorsport in October in place of David Stuart.
Little has worked as Marcos Ambrose’s race engineer at Stone Brothers Racing before a stint at Triple Eight Race Engineering, Tickford Racing, and Dick Johnson Racing (now DJR Team Penske).
He was most recently with Tekno Autsports, where he worked as race engineer to Jack Le Brocq under Burgess, who was team manager until the end of the past season.
Little was also technical director of Supercars for brief time before resigning amid debate surrounding Triple Eight’s flexible splitters in mid-2009.
“Campbell brings with him a wealth of experience, not just within the Supercar paddock, but from around the world working in different categories and manufacturers,” Burgess said.
“His expertise will ensure we maintain focus on key technical projects, future technologies and initiatives from within Australia and around the world, as we also look ahead to the next generation.”
Little is set to take up the role ahead of the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour later this month ahead of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship commencing in Adelaide in late February.
“With the introduction of the Mustang this year the timing is just right for this new challenge in my career,” Little said.
“I’ve spent a long time working within this great category, it really is the best touring car series in the world. I look forward working with the Technical Department and the teams.”
The Bathurst 12 Hour runs from January 31 to Feburary 3, while the Superloop 500 opens the Supercars season from February 28.
