Ex World Rally Championship driver Manfred Stohl has been entered for the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy event in Argentina from November 27-28.
Stohl, who first entered the WRC in 1991 driving an Audi 90 quattro, will run alongside the 2003 WRC champion and World Rallycross champion elect Petter Solberg in a second PSRX-run Citroen DS3 Supercar.
The 42-year-old Austrian is no stranger to the region where Round 12 of the World Rallycross will be held, having run in several national rallying events in San Luis.
“I have lots of friends in Argentina from my rallying days and it will be nice to go back to San Luis where I competed in national rallies and got to know the area well,” Stohl said.
“Petter and I have been good friends for a long time and I have visited him at some RX events in the past.
“Now, thanks to Petter, I have the unique opportunity to drive an RX Supercar in Argentina alongside the new World RX Champion.”
Stohl tested a Ford Fiesta RX Supercar in Austria at last week's Race of Austrian Champions in Greinbach but will not have the opportunity to test the PSRX Citroen DS3 Supercar ahead of Argentina.
Stohl has been unable to secure any test time in the Citroen prior to the machinery leaving for the South American country.
“The cars were already on their way to Argentina when it was confirmed that I would be joining Petter in the PSRX team.
“So unfortunately there hasn't been any time to test but I'm really looking forward to the race and want to get as much experience of RX as possible.”
