MARC GT has elected to skip the penultimate round of the Australian GT Championship at Townsville next weekend.

The Queensland outfit had planned to field its new BMW M6 GT3 for Morgan Haber and Jake Camilleri in what would have been the second competitive outing for the car.

However, the team has decided to abandon the plan and focus its efforts on readying the car for the three remaining rounds of the Australian Endurance Championship.

Haber debuted the M6 GT3 at the Australian GT/Australian Endurance Championship round at Phillip Island last month, when he shared the seat with former DTM champion Bruno Spengler.

Piloted by Haber and Spengler, the car suffered a DNF and 25th in the two Australian GT Championship races followed by a 13th in the Endurance encounter.

The 22-year-old Queenslander admits it is a blow to miss his home round but is eagerly awaiting the next round of the Australian Endurance Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park from August 26-28.

“It’s hard for me to miss the Townsville round as I haven’t missed a race there since I started my career,” said Haber.

“I have a lot of family, friends and supporters who travel to the Townsville race to watch me, so yes, I feel bad for not being there this year, but we’re looking at the bigger picture and focusing on the Endurance Championship.”

MARC GT is expected to conduct further tests with the car prior to the recommencement of the Australian Endurance Championship.
