The Mercedes Formula 1 Team is the latest to confirm the launch date for its 2021 contender.
The Mercedes-AMG F1 W12 E Performance, as the new car is officially known, will be unveiled via an online event on March 2.
Lewis Hamilton won the 2020 world championship for the Brackley-based operation, the team’s seventh successive world title success (Hamilton 2014-15, Nico Rosberg 2016, Hamilton 2017-20).
It also marked the seventh successive constructors’ world championship for Mercedes, the first time that feat has been achieved.
Under the current hybrid engine formula the three-pointed star has been the most dominant team.
Of the 138 grands prix under the regulation set, 103 of them have gone to Mercedes (and 73 of those to Hamilton).
Regulations are largely unchanged for the coming year, with much of the 2020 rule book and car carried over as a result of the pandemic.
As such, sweeping changes are not expected, though aerodynamic tweaks have been made in an effort to trim some of the downforce produced by the cars.
The squad currently has Valtteri Bottas confirmed for the coming season, with Hamilton’s contract negotiations still ongoing.
Toto Wolff is set to remain as Team Principal, and is now a one-third shareholder with the team alongside Daimler and Ineos.
As well as the seven world championships won in the modern era, Mercedes has two further drivers’ titles courtesy of Argentinian legend Juan Manuel Fangio in 1954 and 1955.
Though the marque dominated F1 then in much the way it has in recent seasons, the team itself was formally unrecognised as the constructors’ crown (known initially as the International Cup for F1 Manufacturers) was only introduced in 1958.
Mercedes is the third team to announce its launch plans, with McLaren to unveil its car on March 15, and Alfa Romeo a week later.
Three days of pre-season testing then get underway in Bahrain on March 12.
