Chaz Mosert and Ash Walsh will make their V8 Supercars debut after Miles Racing was awarded a Wild Card entry to this year’s V8 endurance races.
The Fujitsu V8 Series team will enter Mostert’s current Falcon BF entry in the L&H 500 at Phillip Island and Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
The Wild Card entry was granted based on the solid team structure and the calibre of the two drivers.
The entry means that Miles Racing is the only Wildcard that will compete at both Phillip Island and Bathurst. The only other Wild Card will be Kelly Racing’s Shannons Supercar Showdown Commodore that will be driven by Grant Denyer and the winner of the reality TV contest.
Fujitsu V8 Series entry Freestone Racing had their application declined.
Ford Performance Racing team principal and Interim Commission Chairman Tim Edwards says that the driving talent in the Miles Racing team was a key factor in the team’s acceptance.
“There was significant discussion from all Commission members regarding the applications for an entry into the endurance races. To allow or deny a team’s hopes of entering two major events like the L&H 500 and Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 carries significant pressure,” Edwards said.
“Miles Racing has two very talented young drivers in the Fujitsu Series, and they’re doing a great job, and when it became clear to the Commission that these drivers would be in the Wild Card Entry, the decision became that little bit easier.
“We feel that, for the entire team, with a full season under their belts in the Fujitsu Series they are in a position where they can challenge themselves in the two endurance races.
“The Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 is the ultimate test, and one we felt Miles Racing was ready for.”
