The Australian Grand Prix Corporation’s two-seat Minardi Formula 1 car will cut laps of Mount Panorama during October’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 weekend.
The Minardi will take passengers on hot laps of the famed circuit in order to promote March’s AGP at Albert Park.
Built by former team owner Paul Stoddart as part of a fleet of two-seater F1 cars a decade ago, the Minardi is powered by a 3.0 litre, V10 Cosworth that puts out over 700bhp at 16,000 rpm.
The car will take to the track on all four days of the event, running its final 15 minute session on the Sunday morning.
Details of the program, including who will drive the car, are expected to be revealed next week.
Former V8 Supercar racer Cameron McConville has regularly driven the Minardi in promotional outings over recent years, including at the 2011 Gold Coast 600.
The current Porsche Cars Australia motorsport manager will not be in attendance at Bathurst this year however, as he plans to tackle the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii on the same weekend.
Mount Panorama last featured a taste of Formula 1 machinery when Jenson Button and Craig Lowndes took to the wheel of a McLaren during a Vodafone promotion in March, 2011.
