The seven-time Bathurst 1000 winner led the way in class across both days of racing, as the only Production 4WD competitor to complete both days of running.

Through a faultless performance across both days, the Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 completed the full race with a combined time of 6h54m21s.

“Winning the Production class at Finke in the Silverado ZR2 is a fantastic result and a really satisfying way to finish the event,” said Lowndes.

“Finke is one of the toughest races in the country, so to get to the finish and take the class win says a lot about the capability of the Silverado ZR2 and the effort that went into the program behind the scenes.”

Chevrolet Racing general manager Chris Payne described the victory as a “statement result” for the Silverado ZR2.

“Finke is the ultimate test of durability, engineering and driver commitment, and to come away with a Production class win is something the whole team can be proud of, in particular the dedicated group of GM ANZ employees who supported the program at a technical level,” said Payne.

“The Silverado ZR2 has proven itself in one of Australia’s harshest off-road environments, and that is a powerful demonstration of the capability built into this vehicle.”

Of the 125 starters on Day 2, Lowndes was the 91st competitor across the line, trailing the Toyota LandCruiser of Hank Parker and Leslie Tattam by 10 seconds.

As Parker and Tattam failed to finish on Day 1, the Supercheap Auto Racing pair only had to finish Day 2 to take class victory.

Lowndes and Moscatt finished Day 1 almost 20 seconds clear of the Ford Ranger Raptor of Geoff Pickering/Dylan Watson and Mark Robertson/Ron Griffiths, who did not start Day 2.

The win serves as vindication for Lowndes and Moscatt, having failed to finish their Finke debut in 2024 with a suspension issue.
