Robinson and Currie dominated the 50th anniversary race, taking outright honours with a time of 3h23m6s, over a minute faster than their time in last year’s win.
The reigning winners made the bulk of their time on the Day 1 run from Alice Springs to Finke, breaking the record for the fastest run with a time of 1h36m25s.
In his post-race interview, Robinson confirmed that this will be his final Finke Desert Race appearance as a driver.
Robinson noted his desire to step aside to allow his kids a pathway into the sport.
“I think this’ll be the last Finke that we do,” Robinson said.
“We’ll come back with all this mob and see if we can do it again in another 10 years.
“I’m content with everything we’ve done. I should’ve won a lot more in my 20s – but I didn’t.
“I appreciate everything, I’ve loved coming here, I’ve loved racing, but we’ve accomplished everything we wanted to.
“We just wanted to get one win, we’ve got two, we’re rapt.”
Kiwi pair Boston Morgan-Horan and Will Haddock came home in second place outright and won the Extreme 2WD class, over nine minutes behind the winners.
A miscued jump late in the Day 2 running resulted in a damaged wheel and brake caliper for Morgan-Horan, which nearly took the pair out of the running completely.
Hayden Bentley and Viv Coe came home in third place, the second Extreme 4WD competitor behind the winners.
Michael Zacka and Dylan Blake finished in fourth place outright to be the first Pro Buggy competitor home, while Brad Gallard and Dean Keyes were the second Extreme 2WD competitor home in fifth position outright.
2024 winner Beau Robinson and navigator Shane Hutt charged back to third in the Extreme 4WD class.
A tough end to Day 1 left the pair buried in 32nd, passing several competitors on track on Day 2 to finish 13th outright.
After a last-minute call-up to drive, Toby Price and navigator Neill Woolley failed to finish the race after a DNF result on Day 1.
The pair stunned by winning the pre-race Prologue in the SXS Pro category, with the 10th fastest time outright.
