Thirteen entries will be on track for the category’s inaugural trip to Hidden Valley, just one less than the most recent round at Queensland Raceway.

South Australian supermarket owner John-Paul Drake will make his return to the category, once again joined by Australian GT gun-for-hire and long-time mentor Garnet Patterson.

As with their debut round at The Bend, the pair will pilot the #666 Audi R8 fielded by South Australian outfit Team BRM, with the duo also expected to race at the Adelaide Grand Final.

Volante Rosso Motorsport announced the arrival of a second McLaren for its squad, however conflicting commitments mean the team will not be on track in Darwin.

Likewise, the Wall Racing Lamborghini Huracan will also be absent from Hidden Valley.

With three rounds remaining heading into Darwin, a tight championship battle is brewing.

Tigani Motorsport’s Brendon Leitch and Sergio Pires lead the standings after claiming their second victory of the season at Queensland Raceway.

The pair hold a nine point advantage over teammates Jayden Ojeda and Paul Lucchitti, while reigning champions Broc Feeney and Brad Schumacher sit third.

ARGT’s Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte are just one point further behind in fourth, with Team BRM’s Mark Rosser in fifth.

Just 15 points covers the top five in the standings, and with that same amount of points awarded for third place, a single bad result for any of the front-runners could see a sizeable shuffling of the order.

In the Trophy Class, just 11 points separates Team MPC’s Paul Stokell at the top to Tigani Motorsport’s Luke Youlden and Nathan Halstead in second.

GT World Challenge Australia hits the track for two practice sessions plus a bronze driver-only session on Friday, with Practice 2 run into the twilight.

All of Saturday and Sunday’s on track action can be viewed live on Fox Sports and Kayo.

Fans will have the chance to see the cars up close with a pair of free public grid walks ahead of each GT World Challenge race.
