A proud Darwin local, Fullwood will make his return to national level motorsport in a cameo appearance at his home track of Hidden Valley Raceway.

Fullwood will be abroad the RM Racing Cars #92 Ford Mustang Dark Horse R, the fourth different driver to pilot the entry this season.

Cameron McLeod won the second race of the season at Phillip Island aboard the car, while Nick Percat’s protege Harry Bresnehan impressed on debut at The Bend.

TA2 racer Patrick Neville then drove the car at Queensland Raceway.

“This is a great opportunity for me to go out and have a spin on my old home ground,” said Fullwood.

“The Mustang Cup is a new, exciting category. I’ve been watching it from afar, and it looks pretty cool. I’m excited to get in, have a squirt and see what it’s all about.

“The category looks well placed for young drivers trying to climb the ranks and gain experience before moving to Super2 or other GT racing.

“They have a great slick tyre, a big full-size car with decent horsepower, so you can learn many fundamentals to move forward in your career.

“It’s very affordable, it’s got national TV coverage, and Ford is putting a lot of effort in – both for this and all its global motorsport programs.

“So for me, that’s why I think it’s a category that is going to work.”

Fullwood noted his excitement surrounding the SpeedSeries’ first visit to the Top End.

“It’s exciting to have the SpeedSeries come up to Darwin for the first time,” he added.

“It’s the second biggest Australian motorsport championship, and I know that most of the motorsport fans up there are looking forward to it.

“I think the thing that the fans are going to really enjoy about the SpeedSeries is the extra access. The SpeedSeries events aren’t as restricted in certain areas, so if you’re a real race fan, this will be the weekend for you to get up close and personal with the cars and the drivers.”

After winning the 2019 Super2 Series, Fullwood made his full-time Supercars debut in 2021 and continued through to the end of 2025.

During his tenure at the top level, he amassed three podium finishes and three top 10 results in the Bathurst 1000.

Fullwood’s appearance comes alongside another cameo from Toyota GR Cup front-runner Brock Stinson.

Josh Anderson leads the points standings, narrowly ahead of Formula Ford graduate Joe Fawcett.

The Shannons SpeedSeries GT Festival Darwin will be held at Hidden Valley on July 24-26.

Mustang Cup hits the track for two practice sessions on Friday, ahead of qualifying and a 40-minute race each on Saturday and Sunday.
