Former series champion Aaron Borg took victory in Race 1 of the V8 SuperUtes after a close battle with pole-sitter Justin Ruggier.
Borg led home Cody Brewczynski who took second place from his teammate Ruggier through the final corner.
Ruggier relinquished the lead off the start line as Borg lined up on the clean side of the road.
An early safety car was drawn when Mick Sherwell, Jensen Engelhardt, and Hudson James all struck trouble on the pit straight, with Sherwell finding the wall.
Ruggier took the lead just before the yellow flag was thrown.
All cars were able to recover and continue, setting up a restart after just a single yellow flag lap.
Young gun Ruben Dan found the gravel at the hairpin just three laps later, just after Borg re-took the lead.
A quick recovery of Dan’s vehicle set up a one-lap dash to the finish, where Borg led the field home unchallenged.
Ruggier appeared to miss a gear exiting the final corner, allowing Brewczynski through.
Adam Marjoram fought through to finish fourth, while reigning champion David Sieders rounded out the top five.
Sieders’ son Ashton’s charge through the pack came unstuck late, with the young gun picking up heavy front end damage at the hairpin on the final lap, resulting in a DNF.
Craig Woods took victory in Race 2 after a reverse top seven saw him inherit pole position.
Woods held off a hard-charging Marjoram, taking victory in a one-lap dash by 0.4s, his first series win in four years.
David Sieders came home third, while Rossi Johnson was left to rue what could’ve been after slipping to fourth from the front row.
Brewczynski held on to round out the top five, despite contact between him and Cam Crick setting off a chain reaction that resulted in a bizarre flip for Ruggier.
Crick and Brewczynski touched wheels into the hairpin on a safety car restart, slowing the pack up.
Borg made contact with the rear of Ruggier, spinning the ex-Super2 engineer in the middle of the hairpin, and pitching the Hilux into a single roll.
Ruggier landed hard back on his wheels, drawing the second yellow flag and setting up a one-lap dash to the finish.
The first yellow flag was thrown when Ashton Sieders found the wall heavily on the exit of Turn 3.
Four cars narrowly avoided the rear of Sieders’ car as the young gun was stranded sideways across the track.
The V8 SuperUte Series returns for the first of two more races on Sunday at 8:50am AEST.
Aussie Racing Cars
Ryan Reynolds kicked off Saturday with a second consecutive win, this time battling treacherous conditions.
Brandon Madden held on to second position with a one-lap dash deciding Race 2 following a late safety car for Richard Knight buried in the gravel at Turn 6.
Scott Andriske rounded out the podium after battling for the lead in the early running.
Ayrton Hodson barely hung on to fourth spot, almost giving it away by running wide at the penultimate corner.
Anthony Di Mauro carved his way through the field to round out the top five after starting at the back.
Diesel Thomas led the field away at the start, beating Reynolds off the line.
The young gun ran slightly too deep at Turn 2, running wide into the gravel and dropping several spots.
Things went from bad to worse as Thomas again dropped off the road just three laps later, this time skating across the gravel at Turn 6.
Reynolds built a comfortable lead over the course of the race until the safety car was deployed.
The late yellow flags set up a one-lap dash to the finish, with Andriske lining up on the front row alongside Reynolds.
After missing Race 1 due to an illness, Ruben Dan had raced through to the top 10 from the rear, but that charge came unstuck on the restart.
Dan was caught up in a concertina, dropping to the rear of the field.
Andriske lost grip on the restart, falling back into the clutches of the top five, allowing Madden through to second.
The seas parted for Scott Dornan in the reverse grid Race 3 on Saturday afternoon, as he carved through from the rear of the field to win.
Dornan led home Andrew Corish in a near dead heat at the line, ahead of Madden in third.
Race 1 and 2 winner Reynolds came home in fourth after the reverse grid saw him start 12th, while Cody McKay rounded out the top five.
Nathan Williams was the class of the field early on in the Lightning McQueen-liveried car, having been spun right at the start.
Williams was turned sideways through Turn 1 at the start, collecting Oscar Pedersen.
Even with slight front end damage, Williams recovered to battle for the lead a handful of laps later.
Di Mauro battled through to the lead in the early laps, while a fierce battle between Reynolds, Madden, and Hayden Nissen resulted in Madden facing the wrong way at Turn 6.
The safety car was deployed when Jackson Barrington found the gravel at Turn 4, and Ayrton Hodson almost found the wall at the hairpin under yellow flag conditions.
The restart set up an enthralling battle to the finish between Williams and Di Mauro, before the pair made contact through the kink on the back straight.
Both cars slid sideways through the grass at high speed, sending them both tumbling down the order.
Dornan inherited the lead and held off a hard charging Corish to take the win.
Pedersen recovered to 11th spot, while Williams managed to finish 13th, and Di Mauro was shuffled all the way back to 19th as a result of the contact.
Aussie Racing Cars returns on Sunday for a fourth and final race at 10:55am.
Touring Car Masters
Steven Johnson took the win in Race 1 of the weekend, charging through in the opening laps from the third row of the grid and never looking back.
Johnson led home Tim Brook and championship leader Scott Cameron.
Adam Garwood brought the Ford Capri Perana home in fourth after leading early on, while Andrew Fisher capped off a quiet race in fifth spot.
Garwood ran wide at Turn 6 in two consecutive laps, dropping as far back as seventh and allowing Johnson to run away at the front.
Ryan Hansford battled an ill-handling Torana at the mid-point of the race, with Cameron and Danny Buzadzic making contact at the hairpin as a result of a Hansford lock-up.
Buzadzic was left circulating in second place with significant damage on the front left corner, which ultimately culminated in the tyre blowing out on the back straight.
The car quickly ran off the circuit, coming to rest in the gravel trap halfway down the back straight, leaving Buzadzic classified in 15th place with a DNF.
Hansford continued battling braking issues, spinning at the hairpin with both rear tyres locked.
Johnson ran away unchallenged at the front, with a 7.25s margin back to Brook.
Touring Car Masters returns on Sunday for the first of two more races at 9:45am.
Tassie Tin Tops
Josh Barwick took a relatively easy victory in Race 2 of Tassie Tin Tops in tricky damp conditions.
Barwick capitalised on the tricky conditions and superior grip of his R32 GTR to take the lead from Ben Purtell on the opening lap.
Mark Duggan brought the Aston Martin Sports Sedan home in second spot ahead of Ben Newman’s McLaren GT4.
After starting at the back following a spin in Race 1, Brad Sherriff carved through the field to finish fourth.
Purtell held onto the top five despite spinning on the second lap.
After electing to start on slick tyres from the front row, Tim Mann failed to finish after finding the wall at Turn 3 part-way through the race.
The safety car was deployed to recover the stricken Mann Falcon, setting up a short dash to the flag.
Barwick built a lead of over 8s on the restart as Duggan was held up behind lapped cars, including a spinning Steve Gangell at Turn 2.
