Raising money and awareness for long-time partners Breast Cancer Trials, Kavich’s team ‘Race For A Cure’ has helped raise more than $300,000 over the last decade.
Kavich will return to the TA2 Muscle Car Series at SMP having entered the Tag Team Enduro at Queensland Raceway alongside family friend and former Trans Am racer Ben Grice.
The partnership continues in Sydney with Kavich making his solo sprint round debut in the category, with Grice staying on in a coaching and mentoring role.
Mechanical issues plagued the weekend for the pair at QR, resulting in an early retirement from the final 40-minute enduro on Sunday.
Kavich noted the contrasting nature of the Sydney round, having focused purely on endurance racing in recent years.
“Sydney is another important step for me in the TA2 Camaro because it asks something different of the driver,” Kavich said.

“Coming out of endurance racing, you are used to thinking across longer stints, traffic, strategy and the bigger race picture.
“Sprint racing is sharper. The window is much tighter, so you have to be switched on from the moment the lights go out, make every lap count and trust the car underneath you.
“Having Ben Grice back with the team is a big help. He knows these cars, he understands what I need to feel from the car and he can help fast-track the learning around setup, braking, corner speed and race craft.”
Kavich and Grice’s family link dates back over 40 years to when Tony Kavich and Allan Grice competed together at Oran Park in 1985.
The Sydney event provides a unique element for TA2 competitors, with four races held across Friday and Saturday, two each run in the late afternoon and under lights.
Round 3 of the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series sees the TA2 Muscle Car Series return as a headline act alongside the Australian Endurance Championship.
The event, dubbed ‘Sydney Sunset Showdown’ will be held on Friday and Saturday July 17-18 with a unique two-day format.
