The Porsche Equity-One Carrera Cup Australia graduate makes the next step in his international career this weekend.
Sumich joins Porsche giants Lechner Racing, winners of 13 Supercup teams’ championships, piloting the iconic pink colours of BWT.
The west Aussie lines up alongside Dutchman Robert De Haan, and French-Finnish hotshot Marcus Amand, who has been a frequent wildcard starter in Australia.
The young charger described the feeling ahead of his Monaco debut as “incredibly exciting.”
“It’s one of those events every racing driver dreams of competing in, and to do it with a team like Lechner Racing in the BWT car makes it even more special,” said Sumich.
“We’ve had a strong start to the year in Carrera Cup Germany with Target Competition and have continued to build momentum each weekend.
“Zandvoort was another positive step forward, and while the penalty in Race 2 was disappointing, there were a lot of positives to take away from the weekend.
“Monaco is a completely different challenge, but I’m looking forward to learning as much as possible and making the most of this opportunity.”
Sumich’s debut season in Porsche Supercup coincides with a rookie effort in Carrera Cup Germany.
While solid outright results have been outside the young gun’s grasp, he sits fourth in the rookie standings with three class podiums across four rounds.
Sumich’s European quest follows a successful Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia season in 2024, which prompted a promotion to Carrera Cup Australia.
A difficult rookie campaign culminated in missing the final round at Adelaide following the multi-car incident at the Gold Coast.
Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup commences this weekend at the Monaco Grand Prix from June 5-7.
