On Lap 46 of the 160-lapper, van Gisbergen appeared to run Josh Berry in the #21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford Mustang up the road through Turn 3.
That opened the door for Austin Hill in the #33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet to the inside entering Turn 3.
As they ran three-wide, Berry got up into the wall and then bounced back across into van Gisbergen.
Van Gisbergen went spinning down the front stretch, taking the #4 Front Row Motorsports Mustang of Noah Gragson with him and into the wall.
Several more cars went spinning, including Joey Logano’s #22 Team Penske Mustang, who clipped Bubba Wallace and sent the #23 23XI Racing Toyota Camry around.
Out of control, Wallace came across the nose of Brad Keselowski’s #6 RFK Racing Mustang and t-boned the spinning Camry.

Van Gisbergen’s teammate Connor Zilisch spun in the #88 Camaro, making light contact with the #97 Camaro.
Van Gisbergen suffered steering damage from the wreck but repaired it to the point where he was running competitive lap times.
However, losing a lap ultimately cruelled any chance of a recovery mission and van Gisbergen went on to finish 31st and two laps down.
Prior to the wreck, van Gisbergen had been running on the fringe of the top 20 with 22nd in Stage 1.

Off the back of his third straight DNF, Keselowski was critical of the driving standards.
“Guys were running really stupid races where they’re like three-wide on Lap 5 in a race where the strategy is going to reshuffle the field three more times,” said Keselowski.’
“I was just trying not to get caught up in their junk. I missed the first wave of their junk but not the second.”
The race was won by Denny Hamlin in the #11 Joe Gibbs Racing Camry ahead of Tyler Reddick in the #45 23XI Racing Camry. William Byron rounded out the top three in the #24 Hendrick Motorsports Camaro.
The NASCAR Cup Series moves to San Diego for the inaugural street race at the Coronado Naval Base.
