Is this the new way to compete in kart racing?
Track Warrior Leisure Karting Series is a new form of karting, racing four-stroke powered karts in a mid-week competition at the South Morang circuit in Victoria.
The idea behind the class is that it is ‘indoor cricket or soccer’ version of mid-week sport for the rev-head.
The series is initially being organised by Drew Price Engineering, in conjunction with The Ultimate Kart Experience. The competition is not affiliated with the Australian Karting Association.
A Track Warrior kart is built by DPE, and to maintain costs, nothing car be changed – not even a sprocket!
The control engine is a Subaru KX21, said to be cheap to run, reliable and user friendly. Series organisers say that the engine’s performance is between a ‘J’ and ‘S.’
Series promotor Adam Klunyk says that this initial series in Melbourne is the first step to creating more of these competitions around the country.
“We encourage and would love all hire and private tracks to run this concept with the Track Warrior package,” Klunyk told Speedcafe.com.
“It’s the perfect stepping stone from rental karts to AKA racing or just the people who haven’t the time and money for main stream karting …”
You can buy your own Track Warrior kart and engine for $3990. Limited lease packages are also available for first series for $140 per round (not including damage).
The winner of the first series will receive free entry into the next series, among other prizes.
