Australian Formula 3 driver Alex Peroni has been diagnosed with concussion and a fractured vertebrae following a monster crash at Monza.
It came to rest on top of tyre barriers on the outside of the corner, the Tasmanian driver climbing free and walking to the medical car.
Representatives of Peroni have confirmed the 19-year-old has since been taken to the Ospedale San Gerardo of Monza hospital for further checks.
Speedcafe.com understands the teenager is being accompanied by his father, Piero, and aunty.
The incident immediately drew reaction from the FIA, which removed the offending kerb ahead of Formula 1 qualifying.
Peroni joined Campos Racing for this season’s Formula 3 Championship having last year competed in in Formula Renault Eurocup.
Monza is the penultimate round of the 2019 campaign, the finale set to be held as part of the Russian Grand Prix on September 27-29.
