Alex Davison and James Moffat have both been handed 15 point penalties after separate altercations in the final V8 Supercars race of the weekend at Symmons Plains.
Both admitted to careless driving during the second of Sunday’s two 100km races.
Davison was involved in a fracas with Tim Slade and Russell Ingall at the Turn 4 hairpin immediately after the Lap 9 Safety Car restart that spun the HHA Mercedes and sent the Supercheap Holden limping to the pits with a flat left-front tyre.
Davison loses one place to 20th in the championship thanks to the penalty. He had been battling for 15th in the race at the time of the collision.
Moffat later spun Dean Fiore out of the same place with a tap at the final corner just two laps remaining.
That penalty drops Moffat from 14th to 16th in the standings, ensuring Rick Kelly is now the best of the four Nissan Altimas.

The incident compounded a shocking end to the day for Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport that had seen Fiore’s team-mate Scott Pye crash out in spectacular fashion just eight laps earlier.
Earlier in the day, Fiore had been handed a five-place grid penalty for Race 5 after spinning Alexandre Premat at Turn 7 during qualifying.
Stewards also undertook post-race investigations into Race 5 contact between Tim Blanchard/Maro Engel, Tony D’Alberto/Scott Pye and Maro Engel/Michael Caruso but found there to have been no breach of rules in all three incidents.
