Former Powderfinger bassist John Collins could make his motor racing debut next month.
Collins, part of Australian rock royalty Powderfinger, has been invited to a test and race an Aussie Racing Car at Queensland Raceway.
Speaking on One HD’s RPM program, Collins says he will test the pint-sized car in the coming weeks before deciding if he will race it.
“I have a friend who races an Aussie Racing Car and he has hooked me up with a drive at Willowbank,” he told motorsport’s TV program RPM.
“There is a car for me (to race) at the Queensland Raceway round, but I’ll just have to see how the test goes. I don’t want to be at the back of the field!”
The Aussie Racing Cars will support the V8 Supercars Championship at Queensland Raceway on August 19-21.
Powderfinger is one of Australia’s most successful music acts, winning 15 ARIA Music Awards.
Powderfinger’s 2000 album Odyssey Number Five was voted by the public as the best Australian album in its recent Hottest 100 Australian Albums of All Time.
After 21 years together, the band disbanded last year.
