International guests Michael Krumm and Lucas Ordonez will have to contend with wet weather when they slip behind the wheel of Nissan Motorsport’s V8 Supercars at Winton today.

The duo are set to drive the Altimas of Rick Kelly and James Moffat respectively as part of Nissan’s recently announced global driver exchange initiative.

The team’s endurance co-drivers David Russell, Karl Reindler, Daniel Gaunt and Taz Douglas will also cut laps, utilising the cars of Todd Kelly and Michael Caruso.

The day will mark the team’s first test since the season started in late February and will precede a full day for the regular pilots on Tuesday.

The Bureau of Meteorology is expecting a harsh welcome for the visitors, with rain and a chance of thunderstorms predicted for nearby Benalla during the morning ahead of a 14 degree maximum temperature.

While track-sharers Brad Jones Racing will abandon their test if wet weather intervenes, Nissan has committed to running through its program regardless.

Ordonez, a product of the GT Academy video game competition, arrived in the country on Friday evening, taking to the wheel of a kart at Todd Road, Melbourne, as part of a publicity stunt the following day.

Krumm arrived on Saturday, joining Ordonez and Nissan Motorsport’s technical director Craig Spencer in travelling to Benalla yesterday evening.

Both internationals will head from Australia to Suzuka, Japan, following the test for Round 4 of the SuperGT season.
