The 2019 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix recorded the highest ever Friday attendance in the Melbourne event’s history.
An estimated 84,500 people walked through the gates to witness Friday’s action on the second day of the event at the Albert Park Circuit.
The day’s total figure is 10,000 people higher than Friday’s attendance last year.
It also brings the two-day estimated attendance to 135,000, with another two days remaining for the event.
“Albert Park came alive today with the roar of Formula 1 firing up the circuit that saw our strongest ever Friday crowd reveling in the action,” commented Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO, Andrew Westacott.
“The hype and buzz around this year’s event is something else, and with great weather predicted across the weekend, we’re on track for more bumper crowds.”
Friday’s on-track action saw Lewis Hamilton top both Formula 1 practice sessions, while Scott McLaughlin led a Ford Mustang top five sweep in the Race 3 of the Supercars Championship.
