Valentino Rossi has been hospitalised after a motocross training accident in Italy.
The Movistar Yamaha rider has been diagnosed with mild thoracic and abdominal trauma after the crash.
However, a team statement confirmed that Rossi has not suffered any fractures and that “no serious traumatic pathologies were found.”
The 38-year-old was riding at the Cross Club Cavallara in Mondavio (near San Marino) when the accident occurred, and was taken to a nearby hospital for examinations.
Rossi’s injuries come ahead of the Italian Grand Prix, from June 2-4.
At this stage, there is no official word on the Italian’s fitness to participate in the Mugello round, but the next update from the team is due this evening (AEST).
