Russell Ingall says he is pleased that he will be able to end his V8 Supercars career on his own terms.
The 47-year-old V8 Supercars veteran confirmed today that he will end his full-time V8 Supercars career at the end of the 2013 season.

Ingall will drive the #66 Supercheap Auto Racing Commodore VF, prepared by Walkinshaw Racing, in his final V8 season – his 18th year in the sport.
Ingall says that the introduction of Car of the Future will mean a change of the guard at the front of the field and he feels that it will offer him a perfect opportunity to go out on a high.
“All good things must come to an end, and the introduction of Car Of The Future gives me the opportunity to go out the way I have always wanted – on my terms,” Ingall said.

“COTF is a whole new ballgame for V8s and it will open up the competition – you won’t see the domination by just two teams like we’ve seen this year.
“Experience and a cool head will count for a lot and I’ve got both those on my side.”
Ingall has racked up some impressive statistics over the years, including two Bathurst 1000 victories, the 2005 championship and four-runner-up placings.
One record that Ingall will break in 2013, barring injury, will be the most-ever starts record, currently held by John Bowe at 225. Ingall will break the record at Townsville.
“It’s fantastic to have been in V8s for so long, almost since its inception. More importantly, I’m very proud that I am still competitive,” he said.
“I can hold my head up high and say that if I wasn’t competitive, and I didn’t believe I could win races, I wouldn’t still be driving.”
