Adelaide driver Sam Power will graduate from the Carrera Cup Australia to Porsche’s top-level Supercup this season.
Power has confirmed a deal with Momo Megatron for the season, which supports the Formula 1 world championship across Europe.
Having had his first race just five years ago, Power moved through state and national level Formula Ford before spending last year in Carrera Cup with Team BRM.
He finished sixth in the final standings and enjoyed an early taste of the Supercup through a post-season scholarship test in Spain.
While missing out on the scholarship prize, Power has pushed ahead with his aspirations to join the championship.
“Shortly after the Australian season ended in December I risked everything, abandoned all plans to race an Australian championship in 2015 and moved to the UK immediately to pursue a career against the Europeans,” he said.
“It is, and will continue for some time to be, the biggest challenge of my career.”
Momo Megatron has fielded Supercup entries for the last two seasons.
Backed by Italian car accessory manufacturer, Momo, the team is owned by American logistics company, Megatron.
Megatron’s previous motorsport involvement saw it rebadge BMW Turbo engines fielded by the Arrows Formula 1 team in the late 1980s.
Power will meanwhile begin his racing season at the Bathurst 12 Hour, where he’ll join brothers Theo and James Koundouris in a Class B Porsche.
