Shae Davies will drive a Porsche for Craft-Bamboo Racing in this year’s Blancpain GT Series Asia.
Davies will compete in all six rounds of the series alongside Thai Sandy Stuvik in the #911 Porsche 911 GT3-R.
The former Porsche Carrera Cup Australia driver will combine the drive with his Dunlop Super2 Series campaign in the Paul Morris Motorsport FGX Falcon.
“I am very excited to be joining Craft-Bamboo Racing for the 2018 Blancpain GT Asia Series,” said Davies, who tested with the team in January.
“I have followed Craft-Bamboo for many years, way back to their Aston Martin days and I have always admired them.
“So, to be lining up on the grid in one of their immaculate Porsche 911 GT3-Rs is a dream come true for me.
“I believe the #911 combination of Sandy and myself will turn some heads in the early stages of the season and hopefully launch a championship challenge.
“The car has some great speed and I’m looking forward to maximising that starting off straight away in Sepang.”
Stuvik is a former open-wheel racer with titles in the Formula Renault Asian Challenge in 2010, the Formula Asian Renault 2.0 Winter Cup in 2010, and Euroformula Open in 2014.
After two seasons in the GP3 Series, the now 22-year-old moved into Blancpain GT Asia last year.
He finished sixth in the championship, taking two pole positions as well as a runner-up finish in Suzuka in a Vincenzo Sospiri Racing Lamborghini Huracan.
“I’m really pleased to have signed two strong drivers such as Shae and Sandy for the 2018 season in the #911,” said Team Director Darryl O’Young.
“They both have great experience as well as the speed to back it up.
“Shae has several years of Porsche experience in the Carrera Cup Australia and he was very impressive in his first test in a GT3 in January.
“Sandy has top level European experience and a full season of Blancpain Asia already under his belt where he scored some top results.
“I expect the two to be competitive straight away and our team will focus on giving them the car to fight for the overall title.”
Another Australian in Perth teen Aidan Read will line up in Craft-Bamboo’s other 911 GT3-R this year, while Mitch Gilbert will now race an Audi prepared by hotshot Belgian squad Team WRT.
The 2018 Blancpain GT Series Asia starts at Sepang on April 14-15 before events at Buriram, Suzuka, Fuji, Shanghai, and Ningbo.
