Colin Sieders has unveiled his North Queensland-inspired livery for next weekend’s fourth round of the Fujitsu V8 Series at the Townsville street track.
The 28-year-old from Penrith will compete in the City of Townsville Falcon after securing support from a number of local businesses including Zinc 100.3 FM, Townsville RSL, Advantage Signs, Business Technology Centre, Coolabah Motel Townsville, Get Branded, JR Air Conditioning, Snap on Tools Townsville, Sun Ferries, Tec-NQ and Tyrepower Townsville.
Sieders has not contested a round of the Fujistu V8 Series since Bathurst last year and is looking forward to making his debut at the Reid Park track.
“I’m really excited about getting back behind the wheel,” said Sieders.
“The Development Series is becoming more and more competitive, with more and more Main Game teams and drivers getting involved.
“The Townsville track looks unreal, and with the likes of Cameron McConville, Paul Morris and a quite a few enduro drivers in the Development Series, it’s going to be a bit of a buzz to mix it with them on the racetrack.”
This isn’t the first time that the Sieders Racing Team has campaigned a car with support from a small town. At Homebush last year, his team ran Hayden Pullen in City of Wagga Wagga colours.
“With the City of Wagga Wagga really getting behind Hayden Pullen last year, we thought we’d look into running a similar concept in Townsville for myself,” said Sieders.
“We’ve had great interest and support from the businesses up there already, and I’ll be meeting with a few more when I get there.”
The majority of the Sieders Racing equipment is currently in Townsville as the team was running its cars in the Yokohama V8 Utes Series at Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway. The Utes will also be at Townsville. Colin has remained at his base in Sydney preparing the Falcon BA himself, loading all the remaining equipment and driving the race car to the event himself.
Round 4 of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Development Series gets underway on the streets of Townsville with practice on Friday (July 9), qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday, and two races on Sunday. Other support categories include the Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship and the Hertz MINI Challenge.
