Former Kumho Tyres Australian V8 Touring Car Series champion Chris Smerdon will be missing from the grid at Round 4 of the series at Queensland Raceway on August 11-12 – and thus ending a record streak.
The South Australian has been the only driver in attendance at all 22 V8 Touring car rounds since the series for ex-V8 Supercars debuted at Mallala in 2008. That streak will come to an end due to business commitments.
Smerdon is also expected to miss the penultimate round at Phillip Island in September before returning for the season final at Sandown in late-November.
After winning Round 2 of this year's series at Mallala, Smerdon sits sixth in the series pointscore.
The 2008 Kumho Series champion drives an ex-James Courtney, Stone Brothers Racing-built Falcon BA in series.
An entry list of 17 looks set to take part in Round 4 at Queensland Raceway, part of the Shannons National Motor Racing Championships.
