Dubbed the ‘Top Dog Challenge’, the competition has each of the current 24 Supercars Championship competitors representing a young driver of their choosing.
The Supercars drivers are placed into a knockout bracket structure, setting up a series of head-to-head matchups across the championship’s upcoming rounds.
Whoever scores the most points out of each matchup progresses to the next round, culminating in a single head-to-head at the Gold Coast 500 in October.
The concept takes heavy inspiration from NASCAR’s In-Season Challenge, which runs over five rounds during the Cup Series season.
NASCAR’s version, though, awards $1 million to the winning driver, while Brown and Kostecki’s challenge continues their support of young talent.
The duo have awarded small sponsorships to young guns in a variety of categories over the last year via their Lucky Dogs Podcast.

They recently launched the Top Dog Challenge as a $5000 contest, before upping the prize ahead of its kick-off this weekend in Perth.
“It’s going to be really exciting to give $20,000 to a young kid,” said Brown.
“We’re hoping the fans get behind it because we’re trying to give back to the young kids.
“When I was back in that position trying to come through go-karts, Formula Ford, whatever it is… it’ll be a massive help.”
Driver nominations are being announced via the Lucky Dogs social media channels in the lead-up to the weekend.
Brown has named GR Scholarship Series driver Harry Bresnehan as his driver, while Kostecki has selected karter Alfi Luchetta.
Walkinshaw GR Cup driver Pip Casabene has already received two nominations, getting the nod from Ryan Wood and Zach Bates.
The structure of the challenge means the top eight drivers in the current Supercars pointing standings will get a bye for Perth.
Brown thanked sponsors KMC Wheels, Uniden, GR Custom Diecast and Advanced Air Conditioning for making the prize possible.
