Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport will give three young guns a chance in a V8 Supercar during an evaluation day at Winton Motor Raceway tomorrow.
The Gulf Western Oil-sponsored team will test Fujitsu V8 racer Taz Douglas, British Formula Forder Nick McBride and recent Formula 3 race winner Kristian Lindbom in its Holden Commodore VE.
Douglas has prior experience with the team, working with them at the Hidden Valley round as a mechanic. He currently sits 12th in the Fujitsu V8 Series in his privately-run Commodore.
McBride has been a stand-out in the British Formula Ford Championship, currently placed second in the series behind his Jamun Racing team-mate Scott Malvern. McBride is back in Australia at the moment while the British series has a mid-season break.
Lindbom, 21, has been on the racing sidelines of late, but made a comeback in Australian Formula 3, winning the round at Hidden Valley.
Lindbom says that he is looking forward to the V8 test and hopes it can lead to a return to full-time racing.

“I raced the F3 in Darwin, and I’ve never wanted to win more than that,” Lindbom told Speedcafe.com.
“When I was in go karts, you turn up and expect to win. You can lose that hunger. I’ve had a few years to consider what I want to do, and I’m hungry again. I know what the downsides are now when you’re on the sidelines.
“The test will be a great opportunity to get some experience in a V8. It’s no gauarantee to a racing future, but it’s a good head start.”
The Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport team is at Winton today and tomorrow, with regular driver Warren Luff completing a test day ahead of the next V8 Supercars event at Queensland Raceway (August 19-21).
