Townsend Bell has lost priceless motor racing memorabilia including his 10 Indianapolis 500 starter rings after his home was broken into.
Bell was away competing in the Daytona 24 Hours when his Southern California home was ransacked on the Friday night, though he only found out upon his return on late Sunday night having lost his mobile phone on the way to Daytona.
Aside from the Indianapolis 500 rings, stolen items included his 2001 Indy Lights championship ring, his Rolex watch for winning his class in the 2014 Daytona 24 Hours, watch for winning the 2014 IMSA title, jewellery belonging to his wife, and cash.
According to Associated Press, the jewellery was taken by removing an entire safe.
The semi-retired racer and NBC IndyCar commentator has used social media to issue an appeal to fans to be on the look-out for any of the items surfacing on auction sites or secondhand stores.

Bell’s house was one of six in the area to be robbed.
His wife and children were absent at the time.
