Pace Innovation’s Ford Focus GTC prototype has enjoyed an extended and trouble free shakedown run at Queensland Raceway.
As detailed by Speedcafe.com this morning, the 500bhp V8 powered car has been designed and built in Queensland ahead of a planned new championship in South Africa.
Ryan McLeod, who has pre-ordered two variants of the car for international endurance races, shared the 36 laps of running with Dunlop Series driver Steve Owen.
“It was supposed to be a light shakedown just to check the systems but it was that trouble-free that we just kept on going,” Pace’s Paul Ceprnich told Speedcafe.com.
“We were just cruising around in the low 1:15s on very old tyres from New Zealand, and the only reason why we stopped in the end is that we only took a limited fuel supply.”
The car shared the track with Roger Lago’s Australian GT Championship Lamborghini, which Owen was also driving.
The GTC car will return to Queensland Raceway for a full test next Tuesday before being dispatched to South Africa to promote the new class, which is hoped will be able to kick off in mid-2014.
