Alvaro Parente escaped unscathed after his Bentley Continental careered into a tyre barrier at high speed in the Pirelli World Challenge round at St Petersburg.
The Portuguese driver, who won the 2016 Bathurst 12 Hour, clambered out of the car himself, and K-Pax Racing has confirmed that he is uninjured, while the cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
“Alvaro Parente was cleared from the infield medical care centre with no injuries,” read a statement from the team.
“The strength of the Bentley played a key role in keeping Alvaro safe.
“The cause of the incident is unknown at this time, and we will release information once all data has been collected and analysed.”
Scott Hargrove won both PWC races.
