Gaines took the win, but speared into a series of barrell rolls after the finish line.
Soon after the incident, rain took hold in the Charlotte area forcing the cancellation of the day’s activities. The balance of the competition will be conducted next weekend in Texas.
Last round Top Fuel winner, Richie Crampton was eliminated in the first round by Steve Torrence, whilst Aussie Pro Stock competitor, Shane Tucker was preparing for his first run when the rain set in. He’d qualified 14th quickest.
