Vita4One will bring its two BMW Z4Ms to Bathurst

A pair of BMW Z4Ms from former World Championship winning GT outfit Vita4One Racing headline a capacity final entry list for the 2014 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.

Race organisers have released the complete line-up this morning (Monday) following Friday’s entry cut-off.

The 55 car field is six up on this year’s and features 35 GT cars spread across the top two classes.

The appearance of the Michael Bartels-owned Vita4One entries is a major coup for the race, which has rapidly grown since the introduction of GT3 machinery in 2011.

Vita4One took out the FIA GT1 World Championship’s teams’ title in 2010 having won the corresponding accolade in the FIA GT Championship for the previous five years in succession.

The German squad currently competes in the Blancpain Endurance Series, where it races against fellow Bathurst 12 Hour entrants AF Corse (Ferrari), HTP Motorsport (Mercedes), Phoenix Racing (Audi) and United Autosports (Audi).

Audi’s Class A representatives have meanwhile been bolstered to six with German team Rotek Racing also added to the final entry.

The VLN and British Touring Car Championship squad will bring an R8 LMS Ultra and a Class D Audi A4 to the Mountain.

Dean Koutsoumidis’ 2011-specification Audi R8 and another late entry, the Racing Incident Lamborghini LP520 of Peter Hill, are the only non-Porsches in the 15-strong Class B.

Damien Flack’s Type 911 Porsche GT3 Cup (Class B), Peter O’Donnell’s BMW 335i (Class D) and a third FIAT Abarth 500 (which ensures there are enough cars to run Class F) complete the last-minute additions.

The February 7-9 event will feature live free-to-air television for the first time since its return in 2007, while organises last week announced an Allan Simonsen Pole Trophy as part of a revised qualifying format.
