Waters penalised after Race 7 clash

Cam Waters

Cam Waters has received a time penalty after Race 7 following his involvement in two separate incidents during during Saturday’s race at the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint.

Waters first found himself off the road after a stoush with Rick Kelly, the pair coming together at together at Turn 2, sending Waters over the gravel and damaging the Monster Energy Falcon’s steering.

Stewards investigated the incident after the race, determining that neither driver was wholly to blame.

“The (Deputy Race Director) determined that no Driver was wholly or predominantly to blame for the Incident and that it did not warrant referral to the Stewards,” read the Stewards’ report.

Waters was also engaged in a separate skirmish with James Golding at Turn 4, which saw the Garry Rogers Commodore make contact with the wall at corner exit.

In that instance Waters admitted to careless driving, receiving a 15-second time penalty, dropping him to 24th in the Race 7 results.

The Virgin Australia Supercars Championship returns to the circuit for Practice 4 at 0955 local time.
