I’ve placed an exclamation point at the tail of the above paragraph because there is genuine personal excitement about speedcafe.com – Australia’s newest motor sport website.

The contents of Speedcafe speaks for itself – it’s motor racing news and views as Australia has never seen before. A heavy focus is placed on the Australian motor sport scene, including V8 Supercars, drag racing, speedway, karting and all of this country’s national categories. Plus, readers can expect the latest in international news from top-line classes like Formula 1, NASCAR, MotoGP, World Rally and more.

For me, as an industry insider and a fan of the sport, I’m thrilled to be heading this project. Why? Because it’s the final piece in Australia’s motor sport media puzzle. This country has been spoiled in past years with weekly print and online magazines, monthlys, bi-monthys and annuals, but now – finally – there is a dedicated website that is committed to delivering you daily news and views from Australian and international motor sport.

News, as fresh as it gets, and best of all it’s free. And with the way that technology is rapidly changing the way we seek out news and information, Speedcafe is right in your pocket or handbag if you have an internet capable mobile phone.

Some of you may know me from my time at Australasian Motorsport News. I worked there for over six years and have got to know most of the players in the industry. But the time came recently for me to leave the MNews crew and stand on my own two feet – and Speedcafe is the result.

But why do I do this job? Chasing news and hanging out at race tracks around the country may seem like a glamorous job for some, and while it can be rewarding, it can also be a lot of hard work. Again, why do I do this job? I’m a passionate person, and everyone in this sport – the good guys and the bad guys – are all passionate people too. Breaking a story is one thing, being there while it unfolds is another.

I may have changed jobs and I might have started the biggest challenge of my life, but I’m here to make it work – not just for me, but for the Australian motor racing industry. And I do it because I love it.
