Promoter IMG Motorsports and the FIA have settled on a draft calendar for the 2015 World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy.
Provisionally, 12 events have been included with Barcelona added to the list which was not on the inaugural schedule this year.
Barcelona will be held at the Catalunya F1 circuit from September 18-20 with officials tipping considerable growth for the Spanish round.
“With a population of more than 1.6 million, Barcelona will likely grow to become one of our biggest events and it is very encouraging that prestigious motorsport venues are now building purpose built RX tracks,” Martin Anayi, World RX Managing Director at IMG Motorsports, said.
The popular British round at Lydden Hill will maintain its slot over the Spring Bank holiday weekend from May 22-24.
Organisers confirmed that the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Supercars will continue to run in conjunction with World Rallycross events at Belgium, Germany, Norway, Spain and Italy.
The Super 1600 will feature at Portugal, Belgium, Sweden, France, Spain and Italy while the Touring Cars will run at Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Sweden and Norway.
RX Lites Cup will comprise of seven rounds at Portugal, Great Britain, Sweden, Norway, Spain, Turkey and Italy.
The RX Lites will also run in Canada in the standalone Intercontinental Cup.
“After a hugely successful inaugural season in World RX, we have received a steady flow of interest from venues across the globe which we have considered carefully over the past few months,” Anayi said.
“We're conscious that we wanted to keep costs to a minimum and grow our Championship gradually so made the decision to retain 12 key events but changed the running order to make logistics better for the teams.”
