European Formula 3
Round 4 of European Formula 3 saw three different winners from as many races, as Australian Joey Mawson just missed a maiden podium.
Race 1 went the way of German Maximilian Günther, who led all the way, while Mawson finished fourth having not been able to find a way past Jehan Daruvala.
The Sydney driver had qualified second-fastest but started fifth due to a grid penalty hanging over his head from the previous round in Pau.
Race 2 was won by Brit Callum Ilott in another lights-to-flag affair, as Mawson rose one place from his starting finish to come home as best rookie in seventh.
Race 3 went similarly, with pole-sitter Joel Eriksson never headed as he regained the championship lead that he brought into the weekend.
Mawson started and finished eighth, to be the highest finishing Van Amersfoort Racing driver in each race.
Round 5 takes place at Germany's Norisring on June 30-July 2.
World Superbikes Championship
Tom Sykes and Marco Melandri have each won a race in the Rimini round of the World Superbikes Championship.
Sykes (Kawasaki) won the Saturday race in a dramatic finish which saw Chaz Davies crash while leading on the final lap, causing Jonathan Rea to run the Ducati rider over.
Davies suffered a fractured vertebra, among other injuries, and did not start in the Sunday race at Misano.
Melandri (Ducati) made amends in the latter encounter, having also literally fallen out of a podium position on the final lap of Race 1.
The Italian quickly rose from 10th on the grid to third position, before being given another place when Sykes ran wide while trying to pressure leader Jordi Torres.
Melandri then passed Torres for the lead on Lap 11 of 21 and held onto it thereafter.
The Spaniard had initially threatened to reclaim first position but ultimately retired with a mechanical problem for his BMW.
Rea (Kawasaki) finished second to extend his championship lead to a commanding 50 points, with team-mate Sykes a close third in the race.
Round 8 will be held at Laguna Seca in the USA from July 7-9.
DTM
Paul di Resta and Rene Rast have each won in Round 3 at the Hungaroring.
Di Resta (Mercedes-AMG) was a surprise Race 1 winner, having started 13th, as an early pit stop paid dividends when the Safety Car came out shortly after, closing the pit lane and thus stranding those yet to take their pit stops.
Mike Rockenfeller was the best-placed Audi driver in fourth, despite Audi sweeping the top five in qualifying.
Rast (Audi), who had qualified on pole for both races, made a strong start to take the early lead in Race 2.
While an undercut gave Mattias Ekstrom (Audi) the lead after the pit stops, Rast took it back late in the piece and went on to win.
Rast now leads the championship by a single point heading into Round 4 around the Norisring from June 30-July 2.
Global Rallycross
Chris Atkinson rolled in the Round 6 final as Steve Arpin and Tanner Foust scored wins in the Red Bull Global Rallycross double-header in Ottawa.
Arpin (Loenbro Motorsports) held off Foust (Volkswagen Andretti) and Mitchell deJong (Honda OMSE) to win the Saturday final, with Atkinson fourth in his Subaru Rally Team USA WRX.
Foust won the Saturday final thanks to a great start, the second time that the field attempted to get away after the first was aborted due to Atkinson's rollover.
The Australian dusted himself off to ultimately finish ninth in the 10-car final.
Despite a DNF in the Sunday final, Arpin still holds a narrow championship lead over Foust ahead of Round 7 in Indianapolis on July 9.
