Jaime Alguersuari has confirmed he will sit out the second FIA Formula E season due to medical reasons.
The former Toro Rosso Formula 1 driver was forced to miss the inaugural season finale at London in June when the FIA temporarily suspended his license after fainting at the conclusion of the previous race in Moscow.
Alguersuari claimed he fainted due to dehydration in Russia but the Spaniard is yet to receive an official medical diagnosis, which has forced him to relinquish his Virgin Racing seat for the 2015/2016 season.
“During the month of July I underwent several tests for which there has not been a medical resolution and I am still waiting for the final diagnosis,” Alguersuari said in a statement.
“For this reason I need to announce that, unfortunately, I will not be able to take part in the FIA Formula E Championship for the 2015/16 season with my team DS Virgin Racing.
“I want to wish good luck to the team in the new championship and thank everyone for their support.

Alguersuari finished 13th in the Formula E standings recording a best finish of fourth in Buenos Aires.
