With just nine weeks until its opening round of the season, ANDRA (Australian National Drag Racing Association) has released its calendars for the next two seasons.
Abandoning the January-December calendar year experiment, a shortened six month calendar will form the 2015 season, ending at the Fuchs Winternationals Willowbank.
Six weeks after the 2015 season ends, the 2015/2016 calendar begins in Darwin.
Once again, ANDRA has split its categories among the tracks – just two events in the 2015 season will carry every major Championship category, those being the X-Champs at Sydney Dragway (May 1-3) and the Winternationals (June 4-7).
The Top Fuel Championship begins at Calder Park on February 7-8.
The Santo’s Super 3 Xtreme Drag Race on the Easter weekend remains – however is cut back to a one day event on Easter Saturday, Top Fuel being joined by Top Alcohol.
Willowbank Raceway CEO, Tony Manson says the one-day event on Easter Saturday will provide even more excitement for Top Fuel fans.
“The concept of the Super 3 Xtreme event has always been about a short, sharp and intense experience; taking drag racing into a compressed format which provides awesome racing and high levels of entertainment,” said Manson.
“The three round format provides spectators the opportunity to see more cars racing each other more often than the traditional elimination format.
“Now in its third year, Willowbank Raceway has chosen to ramp the focus and intensity of this event up even further by running it on Easter Saturday only.”
In all, six tracks will host ANDRA Drag Racing Championship events over the next two seasons – Perth Motorplex, Willowbank Raceway, Calder Park, Adelaide International Raceway, Sydney Dragway and Hidden Valley.
