Queensland-based MARC Cars Australia’s assault on Creventic’s 24 Hour Series takes another important step this weekend in Barcelona, Spain.
The Circuit de Catalunya hosts the penultimate round of the six event season, where three MARC V8s will do battle in the SP2 Class.
While GT3 machinery sets the pace in the individual races, the series’ point score works on the class results and sees MARC driver Peter Leemhuis currently leading the drivers’ standings.
Veteran Leemhuis has been a stalwart of the MARC program over the last two years and has been cross entered in two cars for the 24 Hours of Barcelona.
He will share the #91 Focus with Keith Kassulke, Ben Gersekowski and team owner Ryan McLeod, as well as the #92 entry alongside Garry Jacobson, Duvashen Padayachee and Jade Edwards.
“This weekend’s race is the last 24 Hour race of the year, which are worth double points, so it’s going to be really crucial for Peter’s championship,” McLeod told Speedcafe.com.

“The rules allow any driver to race two different cars and take the points from whichever one finishes higher, which is what we’ve done.”
The team’s third entry, the #93 Mazda, is being shared by Jake Camelliri, James Kaye, Beric Lynton and newcomer to the team Morgan Haber.
MARC’s #91 and #92 cars currently sit fifth and sixth respectively in the teams’ championship following earlier events in Dubai (24H), Mugello (12H), Zandvoort (12H) and Paul Ricard (24H).
The series concludes with the 12 Hours of Brno on October 9-10.
