Winners of the V8 Supercars Championship and the Bathurst 1000 will now receive rings to honour their success.
A popular form of prize in American sports, the unique rings will see the winning drivers of ‘The Great Race’ at Mount Panorama, the championship, plus their key team members, awarded the special winner rings.
Speed Jewellery will design, create and manufacture the first Official V8 Supercars Jewellery Collection in a new three-year agreement with V8 Supercars.
The rings will also be available to the general public in 2012.
Speed Jewellery will launch all of its designs at this year’s Sydney Telstra 500 and retail this unique merchandise trackside at all 2012 V8 Supercars races.
Nationwide Jewellers is offering the public access to its V8 Supercars Collection, including rings, wheel pendants, bracelets, cuff links and dog tags.
Former V8 Supercars driver and 1980 Formula One World Champion Alan Jones is a partner in the Speed Jewellery business. Jones also contributes to some of the ideas and designs of the final product.
V8 Supercars acting chief executive officer Shane Howard said teams and drivers would cherish winning the prestigious Bathurst and Championship rings.
“Like the Indianapolis 500 or the NBA, a Bathurst or Championship ring will be a hugely sought after prize,” Howard said.
“It is a symbol of an achievement in their careers that few people have the chance to attain. They can literally wear their victories for the rest of their lives.”
Nationwide Jewellers director of merchandise and marketing Niven McArthur, welcomed this innovative range for men.
