Jason Bright and Tim Slade have completed their new car shakedowns at a hot and greasy Winton Motor Raceway.
The fresh Team BOC and Freightliner Racing chassis ran their permitted 60kms ahead of Monday’s official V8 Supercars test day at the rural Victorian venue.
Winton was resurfaced in January and, according to the drivers, needs more rubber down before it gains grip.
“The track today was hot and therefore greasy,” said Bright of today’s laps.
“It’s going to be interesting on Monday to see how it goes. It needs a lot of cars on it, it’s still a bit greasy and dirty being brand new.
“The resurface is a great improvement, so more cars on it will make it more consistent. It looks like it’ll be another hot day Monday too.”
Today marked Slade’s first time in a BJR Holden having joined the team from Walkinshaw Racing.
“It’s always good to get through a day like today trouble free, there were no dramas with the car,” he said.
“I’m really happy with the car, I want to keep doing more laps, 20 wasn’t enough. I’m looking forward to Monday to do some more.
“The resurface is pretty green but it’s a really nice improvement, so on that side of things I think Monday’s test with 30 cars on it we’ll be in decent shape.”
