Brad Jones Racing has taken the covers off new liveries for Tim Slade and Nick Percat to be raced at this weekend’s ITM Auckland SuperSprint.
The two Holden ZB Commodores will display almost identical blue and orange colour schemes courtesy of Australia’s largest industrial, medical and specialty gas company Coregas, which has recently expanded into the New Zealand market.
Coregas has been partner of the Albury squad this year with Percat running a similar livery at the Phillip Island and Perth rounds in April.
Freightliner colours are expected to return on Slade’s car for the Newcastle 500 finale (November 23-25), while Percat’s livery will be revealed prior to the event.
“Coregas have been a great addition to the team in 2018 and have added value to our workshop practices and how we operate both at the workshop and at the track,” said team co-owner Kim Jones.
“It’s great to be representing the Coregas NZ brand on both our BJR Commodores this year and the Coregas NZ Racing Supercars will look fantastic on track.”
BJR will head across the Tasman lying fourth in the teams’ championship with Percat 10th and Slade 11th respectively in the drivers’ standings.
The squad is hopeful that it can end the season with a string of strong results.
“I feel both Tim and Nick have been doing a solid job this year, which sees us currently sitting fourth in the teams’ championship, the consistency has been there,” Jones added.
“I know we are looking to finish the year strong and we’ll head to this round like all others, ready to give it our best shot.”
This weekend represents an emotional round for the team as the Supercars field contests the Jason Richards Memorial Trophy held annually to remember the former BJR driver, who succumbed to cancer in 2011.
Last year Jamie Whincup took out the trophy which is awarded to the driver that accumulates the most points during the weekend.
“The Pukekohe weekend will always be one close to our hearts, as we race for the Jason Richards Memorial Trophy,” said Jones.
“There is always a special feeling when we go there to race in his honour; we’ll always carry the JR star on our cars with absolute pride. We’ve scored the JR trophy once, and there is no doubt that we’d love to get it again.”
The ITM Auckland SuperSprint begins on Friday with opening practice scheduled for 1115 local time.
